Weed, Pest and Diseases– Know Your Enemy!

One one of the first steps in fixing any garden issue is to identify the root cause. There are Facebook groups that can be used - like PlantIdent101 or What's the Problem on My Plant? Others may want to conduct their own research with trustworthy databases and online searches.

The use of integrated pest Management (more on that later) is the best approach to address any gardening issue. So here are the three basic steps to tackle a problem that you have in the garden

  1. Use databases, like those listed below, to identify the issue.
  2. Read about the five practices of IPM that will help you avoid the environmentally-destructive short-term fix of using chemicals.
  3. Make a plan for your strategy and keep working until you are successful.
